This page is part of the Terms of Service and applies to every product we sell. It describes what we disclose and what we do not promise.
Gold and Metal Purity
We mark every piece with its true metal purity, in line with FTC jewelry guidelines. Karat and fineness numbers are exact percentages of pure metal:
- 10K gold = 41.7% pure gold
- 14K gold = 58.3% pure gold
- 18K gold = 75% pure gold
- 925 sterling silver = 92.5% pure silver
- 950 platinum = 95% pure platinum
The remainder of each alloy is other metals used to give strength and color. Only 24K gold is pure gold; we never describe karat gold as "pure gold." If you have a metal allergy, check the alloy on the product page or ask us before ordering.
Gemstone Treatments
Many natural gemstones are treated to improve color or clarity, and these treatments are common in the jewelry industry:
- Heating is widely used to enhance the color of rubies, sapphires, and other stones.
- Oiling is commonly used to improve the clarity of emeralds.
- Dyeing is used on some stones, such as certain quartz and pearls.
- Other treatments (irradiation, fracture filling, and similar) are used on some stones.
Where a treatment applies to a stone we sell, we disclose it on the product page. A "heated ruby" is labeled as heated. If a product page does not mention a treatment and you want to know, ask us before ordering and we will tell you what we know.
Natural stones also vary by nature: inclusions, color zoning, and minor surface blemishes are normal characteristics of natural gemstones, not defects.
Natural vs. Lab-Grown Diamonds
We clearly distinguish natural diamonds from lab-grown diamonds on every product page. You will always know which one you are buying.
- Natural diamonds formed in the earth over billions of years and were mined.
- Lab-grown (cultured) diamonds are real diamonds with the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as mined diamonds, but they are created in a controlled laboratory environment. They are not simulants.
Where a four Cs (cut, color, clarity, carat weight) grading is given, it reflects the grading described on the product page. Minor variance between the stated grade and the actual stone is possible.
Photos and Colors
Product photos are representative. We photograph pieces under controlled lighting to be as true as possible, but screen colors vary, and a piece may read slightly warmer or cooler in person. Perceived color differences are not grounds for a return; see the Return & Refund Policy.
Care and Wear
Jewelry is not indestructible. Chains kink, soft metals scratch, stones can loosen with impact, and plating and tarnish change over time. Please remove jewelry before sleeping, exercising, swimming, or heavy work. Our craftsmanship warranty covers manufacturing defects, not normal wear; the details are in the Return & Refund Policy.
Children's Safety
Necklaces, pendants, earrings, and small charms contain small parts and are choking hazards. Keep jewelry away from small children. Do not let young children wear or play with any piece without adult supervision.
Limits of This Page
Nothing on this page creates a warranty beyond what the Return & Refund Policy states. To the extent anything here conflicts with the Terms of Service, the Terms govern.
